Our newest DREAM team member! Marie took up this post in Feburary 2009, generously funded by the Childhood Arthritis Trust (www.c-a-t.org.uk). Her role is to support young people as they make the move from paediatric to adult health care. she also offers advice and assistance to young people and their families with issues such as home life, school, careers and/or managing emotions etc.

two specialist nurses in rheumatology (Pam Whitworth being the other one). She will be the one you can
turn to for information about diseases and medications. Nicky is the Methotrexate queen!! Nicky is
also known as the organiser of the team, kicking everybody into touch! You'll definitely hear her coming before you see her
though!! | |

 | Dr. Janet McDonagh Email:
janet.mcdonagh@bch.nhs.uk Dr. McDonagh is the lead consultant for the adolescent
rheumatology service at Birmingham Children's Hospital (the one with the northern Irish accent!),
she spends half her time in the NHS seeing patients. The other half of the week is spent
working for the University of Birmingham doing research into how chronic illnesses like JIA
affect teenagers in addition to teaching medical students and other health professionals about
adolescent health and rheumatology. |

Clinic with Janet McDonagh, giving young people the choice of whether they see a male or female
doctor. For those who are interested and/or to whom it might matter, Clive is better at discussing
cricket and sport than Janet!! | |

Suzanne is the occupational therapist (OT) in adolescent clinic. Next time you see her, be sure and ask her what OTs can do for young people! | |

Janis Scott
Jan is the physiotherapist in adolescent clinic. so if you have any issues regarding exercise and fitness, PE at school, sports , planning a programme at the local gym or such like, don't hesitate to ask her when you are next in clinic. | |

Hayes Email: wendy.hayes@bch.nhs.uk Wendy has worked in the adolescent team since 2004. She
is a mother of three children and possibly four if you list her husband!! In her
spare time she is a keen ‘card maker’ including making farewell cards for our patients
when they leave the adolescent clinic. She’ll be the friendly voice at the end of the phone every
time you call!! | |
