Check out the Links section for some useful websites re: adolescents in general!
Also some useful books on the subject....
All parents know that bringing up children is not easy and when it comes to teenagers, how many families have wished that there had been something or somebody around to help in handling a crisis? A psychiatrist, maybe, or a taxi-driver, a counsellor, referee or laundry assistant. Teenagers: the Agony, the Ecstasy, the Answers takes the place of all of these. Accessible and easy to read, this book is informative, down to earth and at once captures the attention. According to the authors, "What Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus did for helping to explain adult relationships, Teenagers: the Agony, the Ecstasy, the Answers does for relationships between adults and adolescents." More than 40 parents and their teenagers were interviewed by the authors, both healthcare experts who have been writing books for young people for more than 10 years. (See The New Diary of a Teenage Health Freak and The Diary of the Other Health Freak, which have been adapted as television series and translated into 22 languages). Teenagers: the Agony, the Ecstasy, the Answers shows how parents view their teenagers and vice versa, in order to enable each to recognise, appreciate and understand the other's viewpoint. It highlights areas of conflict and gives advice on how to get things right by basing the answers on relevant facts derived from thorough and painstaking research. Friendships, sex, bereavement, divorce, bullying and eating disorders are all examined, providing a comprehensive coverage of teenage angst. Actual case histories are used and discussed, justifying the jacket's claim that "this book is one that will revolutionise family life forever". --Susan Naylor --This text refers to the Paperback edition. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Judge
The internet has become a great source of information for health yet often this information is inaccurate, misleading or even dangerous. The Judge project was developed in partnership between:
The project was supported by the PPP Foundation (now the Health Foundation). The Centre for Health Information Quality (now closed) developed this Web site in collaboration with IMRI. Project aimsHow can the health consumer be empowered to judge the quality of the information they find on the Internet? Support group Web sites are important sources of health information. Their role and the information and support they provide needs to be widely advertised. Many support groups have their own Web sites. It is vital that these Web sites contain good quality information and are well designed. The Judge project aimed to address these two issues by developing guidelines for judging the quality of health Web sites.
